Climate Change
According to modern science, the climate is changing. According to NATO, North Korea has nuclear weapons. The human population will destroy each other long before the earth becomes uninhabitable due to global warming. That said, we should continue efforts to maintain clean air and water. For that reason, I support efficiency improvements such as increased MPG requirements. I also support emission limits in polluting industries and protection of national parks. I do not support government subsidies or tax incentives for any industry. With the current rate of technological advances, many generations should continue to enjoy the earth as we know it.
Side Note - Land
I do not understand why we can own land. I understand why we can own a building, because it wasn't there before, but now it is, and our effort helped put it there. That does not apply to the land that was there long before we arrived. When I fly over America, I look at the vast undeveloped spaces and wonder who owns it all. Meanwhile, my home is on a sliver of space in a congested suburb and takes 30 years to pay off. What would it look like today if no American could occupy more than 100 acres (away from a body of water) or 3 acres (near a body of water) and didn't have to pay property taxes on it. Include in this that there is no cost to obtain a passport and non-citizens cannot occupy land.
